Honestly I don't think mosaics are that big a deal.

More like 50/50 for me. Would I prefer mosaics free VN ? Yes. Would it effect my buying decision? No

As I mentioned before, there is nothing drawn under the mosaics in this case, so the only option would be to hire an artist to draw the parts in question, which is something we're currently too poor for because of the two titles we're going to announce :tehee:

Shame, Sanoba though is one of more anticipated VNs from like 2-3 years for me, so u are off from hook for this one and gonna buy collectors/box edition as exception :DFor now u are doing good job, but we will see ur next two titles though ; )

Well, if a tiny mosaic is enough for you to say "Well, this entire VN is shit now" then I don't know what to tell you. :sigh:

I've never said that VN is shit in case of content (story, chars, etc.). I just don't have intention to be bind by Japan rules, while not being Japanesse citizen and living somewhere else. I understand that it is their law there and its fine there. But that doesn't mean i need to support devs who want my money (from outside Japan) but don't wanna change their policies and ways of making games and adapt their products for different customer. I say no to laziness and just want to play fair. U come here via publishers (NekoNyan, MG, Jast) and want earn money from diff market, thats ok. But show some good will and adapt your product to new market where mosaic law is not present. Is it too much to ask? Just for some quality? Let's be honest, its pubs work to translate, devs work to make game and we give them our money that we earn for product. It's bussiness to earn money, we can talk how nice it is that we have VNs - and ye it's cool. But still we are paying for product/game/IP - no matter how u gonna call it. Once again i just want only some fair play, if devs don't want my money... What can I say.. Someone else gonna get it. Thats how market works. I hope I clarified my point of view enough. No hard feelings.

Cheers

I like how you're calling everyone at NekoNyan lazy cashgrabbers while trying to take a moral high ground. Keep it up. :alsonotamused:

NekoNyan is developer of the game or publisher? Read carefully once again.

NekoNyan already said there's nothing under the mosiacs. Furthermore, the risk to reward for redrawing the artwork just to sell outside of Japan through a very new company is not worth it. While I am looking forward to Sanoba Witch, I can already tell you that it isn't going to sell well. A significant portion of the Western VN community does not like Yuzusoft products. Paying the artists to redraw the ero scenes to not have mosaics is not going to change sales in a significant enough way.

To be clear - i didn't mean YuzuSoft only. I mean overall japanesse devs. For example Minori (Trinoline) or Giga (Baldr Sky). Those companies don't wanna even hear about mosaic removal in their games (thats why Baldr license went to Sekai Project). Yet still they came to western market. I don't blame NekoNyan for lack of option with Sanoba and I understand that they only started here. Once again blame is for japanesse devs, our pubs are doing what they can.. Mostly.. Except SP ofcourse. They are equal to EA in VN niche. And about Sanoba.. As i said im gonna make an exception and buy it for sure in box. Hell if u don't believe im gonna sent u a photo in day when they deliver it to me :P

Okay, this paragraph cleared up a lot of misunderstanding.

I can also see worries about legal risks. It might not be illegal, but skirting the line makes some companies uncomfortable.

If u mean that japanesse boi gonna get unmosaiced version from some torrents or any other place.. Then blame and responsibility is for him entirelly - he got this in illegal way. For legal purchases there are ways to block unmosaiced official versions in JPN. Or u meant something else?

I meant selling the uncensored product in the first place. An example I can give is that selling Prairie Dogs in the United States is illegal, but isn't in Japan.

I reallllly doubt that. For now only Japan has a law about mosaic sex scenes in game/porn. Well mby Korea and China too. But for sure none of western market.. Don't know about future, but for now.. Only they have such bad luck. Also if it was.. Law is already broken dozen of times, Isn't it? We have Fureraba without mosaic so law allows that :)

What I'm trying to say is where do Japan's laws stop applying? And it may be that those uncensored VNs are in fact illegal, but inspectors haven't picked up on them yet.

The Japanese law for censorship is vague and antiquated, but lawmakers don't want to bother clarifying or changing it. Not much can be done about that.

Now if an uncensored localized release found its way back to Japan? That would probably be considered illegal by precedent.

Japanesse law apply only in Japan. This u can be certain.

I can't really word this well. If the source material is altered in japan, then given to a localizer, is that altered source material under Japanese restriction laws before it reaches the localizer?

Great news all around. Even the HG news is good, as you've dropped someone who wasn't going to be reliable in the future.

I'll be picking up whatever you put out to support you all. Looking forward to more news.

Not a fucking clue. I just remember seeing the phrase "Yuzushit" thrown around alot in the forums I browsed while looking for an Amairo Islenauts translation. :reee:

I can't say I've ever seen Yuzusoft being slammed as a company, but I'm not exactly mister VN subculture expert here. Just, like, the usual pro/anti-moe nonsense mostly regarding Noble Works and Dracu-Riot as two of the more popular VNs in English-speaking webspace. At any rate, I'm very much looking forward to the "completion" of Fureraba.

Oh... Nekonyan, are you poor after getting two new licences? Oh, no... I hope you will be alright.

Everything will be fine. NekoNyan will have money once more of its licenses are released. Right now, the company is in the startup phase, which requires a large initial investment.
