    Anyone playing any RPGs?

I finally finished Valkyria Chronicles 4! I love this game! I was pleasantly surprised how much content there was in this game. My entire playthrough time clocked at about 70 hours! Compared to Valkyria Chronicles 1, this game was twice as long. Makes me want to start another playthrough of the first one again for the umpteenth time. Now my main focus is to continue my playthrough of Shining Resonance Refrain. I have started playing Nier Automata and I am very intrigued by the story. It's so different and it asks some really existential questions that I haven't seen before.

First off, I am very excited about NekoNyanSoft opening pre-orders as I really wanted to pre-order Sanoba Witch, but couldn't. I am not a fan of Kickstarter. As someone who has supported a couple of them and has yet to still receive what it is that I paid for 3 years down the line, I don't care for the platform anymore. That's not saying that I think that it shouldn't be done. I just think that it's very costly to do, too many variables, and I have seen only a handful of people that want a physical release. I like having physical copies for my games over digital, but when it comes to VNs, I have only played VNs digitally. I have come to accept that digital is really the only way to play these titles thanks to MangaGamer and their stance on physical releases. Which is why I would rather that NekoNyanSoft focus on bringing and localizing these amazing titles that they have been doing so far. It pains me with what is going on with Steam as I think it was both unfair and uncalled for what they did. I worry about my favorite publisher because for as much as I hate Steam, I do understand that Steam is the best platform for VNs to receive the attention that they wouldn't receive otherwise. I want them to have all of the success that they deserve. I am only one person and there is only so much that I can do. However, I will continue to purchase directly off of the website and continue to show my support as much as I can. By both buying and by participating in the forums. This is my way of showing my love and appreciation for the work they do. I don't want them to go anywhere. I have really enjoyed their titles so far and I don't want that to stop!

    Other Yuzusoft Titles?

Don't forget to add Tenshin Ranmen to that list! But, yes, I hope that Sanoba Witch did well because 1.) Yuzusoft and 2.) I want NekoNyanSoft to be successful. Hopefully, it means more Yuzusoft titles from NekoNyanSoft. They did an amazing job localizing Sanoba Witch!

Yeah, when I saw your response, I figured you must have gotten Persona 3 mixed up with the Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight game that came out alongside the Persona 5 version. To answer your question, I think that it honestly doesn't matter where you start when it comes to jumping into the Persona series. I say this because thankfully, each iteration of Persona is a completely standalone story that all take place in the same universe as the other stories. I would say that if you can go back and play Persona 3 and 4 then go for it! However, chances are that you don't have the means to play it, such as a PS2, PSP, PS VITA, PS3, or a PC that can run an emulator, then it will probably cost you money since they aren't titles that are a part of the remaster/remake trend in the video game industry. As for me, when I decided to jump into the Persona series last year, I did not have the means or money to go back and play the older titles. Plus, I want the full experience of a game so I will only play the Persona 4: Golden edition if I ever get the chance to play that title (PS VITAs are EXPENSE!!). So I started with Persona 5. I can't wait to see what you think of Shining Resonance Refrain. It makes me happy to hear that it hits the right notes for you as well. Ni no Kuni 2 is a good game as well. My only gripe with the game is the almost complete lack of voice acting in the game. Which sounds silly, but I love voice acting in RPGs. I enjoyed the voice acting that is in Ni no Kuni 2 as it is really well done. When I'm playing a long RPG, I like to listen to voice acting and read, rather than just reading. It just enhances the overall experience in my opinion.

That makes me even more excited now! I can't wait to get sucked into the world of Trails of Cold Steel, but then again, I generally get really immersed in the RPG that I play. I keep hearing that I "should" play Trails in the Sky and I want to, but visual novels are the most that I can get my laptop to run (It's a pretty old computer). Which is also why I have to wait for the PS4 release of Cold Steel apart from the fact that 95% of the RPGs that I play are on PS4. Actually, funny you should mention it, but Tales of Vesperia (Xbox 360) was my first ever real RPG I ever played! (Pokemon doesn't count here). I have such fond memories of playing that game and I can't wait to play it again with the remaster after all of these years. I played that and Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of a New World on my Wii (I loved it). I actually picked up the series again with Tales of Berseria earlier this year (I wanted to jump back into the Tales series with Tales of Zesteria, but I heard very mixed opinions about it so I decided watched the anime version and the fact that it tied into Berseria was wonderful!) I wasn't the best with the combat system, but I loved it enough that I want to go back and play the Tales games I never played which are Graces F, Xillia 1 and 2. I am perfectly okay with non-turn based RPGs. I have played Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (EPIC!!!), Berseria, Final Fantasy 15 (first one), and Ni no Kuni 2 which I loved. I have Ys VIII and Kingdom Hearts that I need to play. I'm currently playing Shining Resonance Refrain at the moment. I do enjoy non-turn based RPGs. (Have you played Shining Resonance Refrain? It is very similar to and plays like a Tales game. Strongly recommend it!) However, turn-based combat is where it's at for me! Valkyria Chronicles 1 was the only game for the longest time that I had that was turn-based. Last year was when I found the game that made me a complete sucker for turn-based RPGs: PERSONA 5! Playing Persona 5 lead to discovering the great Fire Emblem series which has lead to looking into other turn-based RPG series and games. I think that XSEED is VERY aware that people want Cold Steel 3. I suspect that they won't announce it until they are really far along in the localization, I hear that it is a really long game text-wise. I can't wait to get caught up with everyone else that is currently waiting for CS3. I don't want to miss out on this really interesting series anymore!
  8. The article is mostly about how there is a new anime project for the Nora to Ōjo to Noraneko Heart series. However, it was "mentioned" that the visual novel is to be getting an “Overseas Edition.” That would awesome if that were true. This is on my short list of visual novels that I want to read. Here’s hoping Source: Anime News Network http://4NN.cx/.140122

    NekoNyan PM question

Geez, you really have it out for poor Neb. You’re like a Saturday morning cartoon villain.

    Anyone playing any RPGs?

I can't wait to play Trails of Cold Steel 1 and 2 on PS4 next year! It's going to be very tough to decide what to play when January rolls around since Trails of Cold Steel 1 for PS4 comes out in January along with many many other games. I heard that the PC release fixed that lack of voice acting as well as other issues. The PS4 version is a port of that version of the game. I certainly hope that Trails of Cold Steel 3 will be brought over at some point since Cold Steel 4 came out recently. I haven't played a single "Trails" game, but I can tell that there is something really special about this series. Plus, I am a huge sucker for JRPG games with turn-based combat and an anime art style. More Nihon Falcom games can never be a bad thing!

    Anyone playing any RPGs?

While conducting research into DQ XI, I have heard others say that as well that it is a GOTY contender for them. The game looks really good so I definitely want to play it after I finish Shining Resonance Refrain and Valkyria Chronicles 4. The general consensus, from what I read on the internet, is that there is Tokyo Xanadu Ex+, the Ys series, and then, there IS "Trails of Cold Steel!" This series seems to be the best of the best that Falcom has produced from everything I have heard about the series. Everyone that I spoke to told me that I need to play them. I have never played a Trail series game before, but I really like what I have seen of the game so far so I have preordered both Trails of Cold Steel 1 and 2 already. I can't wait to play the first one when it arrives in January.....along with Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition and Kingdom Hearts 3.

When will Nekonyan be considered successful?

But Neb Neb is an powerful god amongst moral man! He is a god that transcends all understanding. He has no need for such things like “eating” or “ramen.” He gets his powers from all of the “moe girls!” Therefore, he has no weaknesses!

I only played the demo to Octopath Traveler and just couldn't get into it. I was attracted to the art style and the old school graphics. But everything else from the story to the combat system just didn't mesh with me. It just got really repetitive and super grindy, which I wouldn't mind as much if the story and characters were really compelling. I think I had the same problem as you where I just got really bored with it. As a huge fan of the Valkyria Chronicles series, it makes really happy that there are others that enjoy the games as well. I think that should keep playing it! How far are you in the game Neb? Is there anything that really stands out for you when playing it? I do think that Kai is great and I wanted her to be the main girl. However, since playing the game, I think that Riley is still the best girl! "Come in Centurion!"
